Batheaston is a thriving and creative village with a strong sense of community, and building a flexible, accessible shared space that would meet the needs of the various community groups was a project very close to the residents’ hearts. This social context led to a design that focuses on functionality for the youth, while offering gathering spaces that connect all generations. Sustainability and energy efficiency were important aspects of the design brief, with a strong focus on renewable energy and technologies.
A soft palette of limestone and hardwood ensure that the structure remains sensitive to its beautiful Cotswold surround. The orientation and gentle curve of the main entrance draws you inside in an ultimate gesture of welcome.
