For a relatively small property, Spring Cottage involved a very complicated set of works! Initial phases involved a substantial excavation into a sloping garden to the rear of the property to facilitate a two storey extension with single storey garden room. The original property was in dire need of some tlc and a lot of the works carried out were resultant from opening up to find yet more damp and decay in the original structure. Working closely with architect and structural engineer, Sage Developments provided all the hands-on skills that were required for the build, from Groundworks to masonry, from carpentry to plastering, from painting to tiling.
The extension provides an extended living space not only on the ground floor – where living, dining and kitchen areas are all carefully arranged as distinct areas within a overall open plan - but also at first floor. A utility area is discreetly concealed within a curved Cotswold stone wall that stretches up from ground to roof level, while at first floor the ensuite to the newly created master bedroom also sits within this wall. The freshly finished house feels completely transformed from the small, dark little cottage that met us on our first visit; the quality of Sage Developments’ craftsmanship has been appreciated by neighbours and local Parish Council alike!
